Maybe it just "appears" that way, but anyone else think this buck "appears" to be in velvet?
I don't know what the correct date of the pic might be, but do notice the leaves not on trees in the background, which would normally be indicative of winter months, and that January 2014 date would fit the background. Definitely not a summer-time pic.
Regardless, I'm comfortable saying this buck was 3 1/2 or older when the pic was taken.

Yes, the buck is in velvet, which is why I asked about the real date.

End July. Sorry about date. Yes leaves are off due to spraying for pine planting.
