Decided to go for a couple of hours when I got off today, sure am glad I did.
I set up on a big wooded hillside where I thought they might be roosting, ended up getting some hens fired up and then then the toms started gobbling, called in the whole flock, 15 hens 2 jakes and 6 toms. Pretty nerve racking when you have 6 toms 40 yards spitting and drumming and gobbling shaking the ground. They finally came on up to about 20 yards and I put one in the dirt.
That David halloran metal mouth with a Matt Mclain black locust striker sure is a sweet combo.
3 year old bird I'd say...10" beard, 1 1/8" spurs, 23.5 lbs.
