my wife gave me some cash for chirtsmas to buy a new gun with , after many hours of thought on the matter i have came down to a ruger 44 deer field carbine i found used for 425 , a new ruger mini 30 or a new smith and wesson ar 15 "cheaper model" on sell for 500 dollars if he still has some left. i would like each gun for diffrent reasons , since i want a gun that i not only can take to the range but also hunt with , i am kinda thinking mini 30 , what yall think ? i hunt deer and coyote .

Get the Smith AR hands down. Practice ammo is cheap. Quality ammo for various hunting purposes is readily available and quality mags are reasonable and plentiful. 300 yds and more is not unheard of from an AR.

Deerfield has a lot of very bad reviews. You are limited to not much more than 100 yds. Ammo is a buck a round.

Mini 30 is not very accurate,no real good hunting ammo available. 200 yds is a stretch for the round. Factory mags are the only ones that are reliable but they are $40 plus each.
