Due to an NCAA rule, the Clemson Tigers will have less time to practice than Alabama prior to the College Football Playoff championship game on Jan. 11, reports ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

Alabama's spring semester begins on Jan. 13, two days after the championship game. Clemson's spring semester begins this Wednesday. Therefore, the Tigers must practice in accordance with the NCAA's 20-hour weekly rule, which limits the a team's athletic activities during the spring.

According to the rule, Clemson will be restricted to a maximum of four hours of practice and team meeting time per day when the spring semester begins. On the other hand, Alabama can hold unlimited practices and team meetings in preparation for the title game

The same issue arose last season when Ohio State was allowed unlimited practice time, while Oregon was restricted by the NCAA rule. The Buckeyes went on to defeat the Ducks, 42–20.

I am going to pull for Clemson.Wish my pick actually had some bearing on this game.Every time Bama wins a NC it becomes harder to recruit against Saban. I know everything runs in a cycle,SEC now,Big Ten later,then the ACC or others.With ESPN's help the SEC and their $30 million each from the network make it harder and harder.Our conferences will have to keep plugging along. This would be a big win for the ACC if they could pull it out. 2013 ACC,2014 Big 10 and 2015 ACC would certainly help with the recruits. :tu:

This is EXACTLY why I am baffled when Tennessee fans (along with fans of all the other SEC schools) pull for bama to win another NC. Just so they can tell their friends "we" won another championship. "We" didn't win anything!!! Bama did and they will only get stronger because of it!
