Good read Richard...I really have no opinion since I only fish trout in TN, however, while trout fishing if the water is up...and in fact if the water is roiling we seem to catch many more smallies over trout. As a matter of fact we tend to fish now for smallies on days when it's like that..maybe after a big rain.

Hope it is not as tough as this spring. I fish 95% of the time in rivers and creeks. It was very difficult getting in the river last year due to all the water. Nobody likes a drought but it sure concentrates the fish.

New Year's Day tournament on Chickamauga took 21 lbs. to win it. It wouldn't surprise me a bit for 30 lb sacks to be fairly regular this spring on the Chick. Bass feeding heavily on shad this winter, then the bass full of eggs this Spring. I believe there will be some real trophies come out of there this year.
