Yup around the same couple counties that were hit pretty hard four years ago or so.AT Hiker":20y51lqe said:https://www.kcci.com/article/iowa-dnr-estimates-at-least-900-deer-dead-from-ehd/28989008

The dry conditions dry up a lot of the "wet weather" creeks, and concentrate the deer around any available water. And, that is also where the midges are.
I remember BSK saying before he left us that he had stopped recommending his landowners to put in water holes due to the potential of losing a major portion of their deer population to EHD from those water holes. Tough year!

The article mentioned people kayaking and smelling the rotten deer. I guess those side creeks and draws in Iowa are hot beds for the midges.
I also read that Minnesota has never had a case of EHD...I find that very interesting.

581 of those confirmed deaths have come from one county, Warren, last year hunters killed 2767 deer from that county. Thats about 21% dead already when comparing to the total harvest last year, with archery season still a couple weeks out and the corn crop not fully harvested.
What exactly would make this news worthy for you guys?

And those are only the ones that have been found. You could probably add 50% more to the total that no one found evidence of.
