I haven't put one on the ground, but I've been seeing a ton of deer. I've been able to lay eyes on both target bucks from my trail camera, got a shot and missed on one. Plus, I had a surprise buck I've seen twice that is bigger than either trail camera target.

I've been very fortunate so far. I had a doe at 12 yards and two bucks at 40 yesterday evening. I didn't shoot the doe hoping the bucks would come through, but it didn't work out.

Anyone else seeing a lot? They have been on their feet for me. I've hunted a field edge where they stack up before coming out and I've hunted one stand of white oaks, seen deer in both set ups. I've had to sit till 8 pm twice so as to not run stuff off going to the truck.

Anyways, it feels good when a plan comes together. I've passed a few does and missed on a good buck, but it's been a great season so far.

I'm in the same boat, only deer I've seen were a doe and fawn opening morning and a doe I bumped out walking out one night. Been a rough start for sure.

hang in there bud Tennessee has more of a marathon season as opposed to a sprint...we got a long way to go and a lot of hunting to get there! good luck!

Don't feel bad....
first Saturday-17 deer and didn't bring one home
first Sunday-2 deer and didn't bring one home
second Saturday-0 deer
second Sunday-4 deer and didn't bring one home.
I don't shoot does w/fawns which I have seen a lot of. I wait till later in the season.
drawn back on two different bucks but didn't like the shot. Odd to say but lately I have not been confident in my shooting, even though i had three clean kills the last two years with my bow. I find myself looking for that perfect broadside and if I don't get it I haven't taken the shot. This lack of confidence has been good for me though because it has made me practice more and my groupings have all been kill shots for the most part.

Its been a very productive and fun season so far, I myself as well as my boys have had multiple opportunities most every time we've climbed a tree, cant complain!

I'm happy with it even if I don't stick one. It's been a really fun year so far.

We are taking a little different approach this year on our property.

Since we have just a 60 acre track we are just hunting the front part of the property and leaving the back section of the property untouched. The back section has the best cover, best mast and best trails but we are keeping it scent free for muzzleloader season. Giving the deer somewhat of a sanctuary .

We are seeing quite a bit of deer even just hunting the 20 or so acres. My son is hunting the 6 acres across the street and has seen close to 20 deer. Many have been out of range ,, he missed one and got busted by a couple of them. He has been ground hunting because he has been working so much he is afraid he might fall asleep in the stand.

I have seen quite a few myself hunting on must the 15 acres I am hunting on. Killed a button buck just because i wanted to get some freezer meat and he gave me the best shot possible out of all the shots I have been given so far. The majority of the rest have been out of range or not in clear shooting alleys.

I think its going to be a great season.

Tree Ghost has a point about the season being a marathon...the woods won't even look or feel the same after a few frosts. It's always game on come muzzleloader season IMO.

But next to the rut early bow season is a close 2nd for me. Love being back in the woods deer hunting after several months off.

yeah my biggest challenge now is climbing up a tree just to see leaves and realize i have better visualization from the ground.

happens to me dang near everytime im hunting a buck bed that i didnt have a chance to prepare a stand location for in the spring..."ok this looks perfect...20 feet up the tree not so much lol" Im not a big fan of cutting down half the forrest for shooting lanes either especially when im hunting a hang and bang...i might trim a couple branches right at my shooting location but other than that i just try to pick a natural gap in the trees to shoot through...sometimes it works and other times id have better luck shooting crows in the air than deer on the ground
