I am looking for a replacement stock for a 700 bdl long action.I am looking at h-s precision or bell add carlson.Anybody have any suggestions?

I'm a fan of thubhole stocks. You can get a thumbhole from Boyd's gun stocks for around $100. They fit good and are very well made. IMO anyways.

new HS prices are a little high for what you get...
my advice would be to follow the Mcmillan stock specials (which are updated around 2-3x month). If you have the time and you are patient, you can get a new Mickey for around $325 shipped. If you don't like it, you can resell it used for more than you paid new.

I bought a A1/HTG last year for $325 new, and a couple months ago I bought a new Hunter's Edge for $425 new directly from them.

Another option, especially if you are looking for an ultralight wt, but still decent stock are the Rem titanium take off's... they're bell and carlson, but still very well made. Usually in the $175-$200 range, but Numrichs had them new on sale last year for $70... so I bought 4 :)

If you just want the cheapest route to replace a broken stock (not an upgrade), you can usually find Rem cheap tupperware stocks for $25 on the campfire or snipershide.

Gun store in Hohenwald had a Bell & Carlson camouflage for $75 used. I thought about buying it several times, but never did. The store is halfway between Hohenwald and Summertown on Hwy 20, but I can't remember what it's called, and I don't know where you are located.

McMillan and Manners are great stocks, but they they are quite expensive unless you find one "on sale" which is still expensive for me.

Last time I was in there he had sold it. Or it wasn't in the same room with all the other guns atleast. Good price on it though.
