7 mag to buy???

I have a number 1 Ruger, a single shot, tack driver little recoil.

I am just wondering what the 7 Mag will do that the 270 that you already have wont? Beleive me I am all for having alot of guns, but I just dont understand why people think the 7 Mag is that much better than a 270. Longer and heavier gun, more expensive shells, more muzzle blast, more recoil for a very negligable difference in performance.

Exactly. If you are set on having a Magnum in your arsenal then go for a 300 Win Mag. A 7 Mag is nice but it's not really gonna be any better than your 270. A 300 mag would allow you to shoot heavier bullets in case you ever decided to go out west or something.

If you reload, 30 caliber bullets are more readily available also.
