I ignored the 6.5 Creedmoor buzz until this past summer when I started looking to add another Tikka to the stable. I got to researching the 6.5 Creedmoor and discovered it's merits. I bought a 24" barrel Tikka T3x 6.5 and right off the bat it shot Hornady Precision Hunter 143 grain ELD-X sub MOA. I liked the ballistic performance and long range capabilities with very little recoil.

I got to witness first hand the killing ability of the 6.5 mm bullet this week. For a couple days we've observed a young buck limping all over our lease. I wasn't sure if he had been shot or was injured. I passed on him the day before but the next morning he stood broadside posing at 235 yards and let the 143 grain ELD-X 6.5 Creedmoor rip. Heart shot and he did a little circle as the blood was pulsating out his side and crashed right where he stood.

Count me as a fan of the 6.5 Creedmoor. I know it's bashed a lot but I think it's inherently accurate, light recoil and carries a lot of energy down range. Clean pass through at 235 yards.

Congratulations.

Been carrying one this season instead of some of the other calibers I hunt with. Have yet to shoot anything with it, but my eld x handloads sure perform well on paper. Last 3 deer I killed with rifle were with eld x from my 308. Those all dropped in their tracks. Hoping to get similar performance from the 6.5.

Congrats. I would love to have that exact rifle and cartridge.

The main reason that the 6.5 creed gets flamed is all of the fanboys and otherworldly hype. Nothing at all wrong with it, but it's not the miracle worker that some claim. You are exactly right that it is a perfect deer cartridge: plenty of power, low recoil, readily available ammo and components
