the hardest part about shooting long distance with iron sights is "being able to see", I will stay at 300 till spring, then I will move to "472 yards", the only reason for 472 is that its the maximum distance I can get at my house

I can not read a phone book but my long range is still good for a 62 year old

I can't see 300 yards with a 3x9 scope.
When I went for a Lasik examination the doc couldn't stop laughing.

Walmart charges me double for lenses

Good 10 shot group with iron sights you've got there.

That black your're shooting at looks pretty small for 300 yards. The standard NRA 200 yard target we shoot in Friendship has a 12" black. Like you said....you can't hit what you can't see.
