.350 Rem Mag?

Does anyone have one of these? My buddy had one in Rem 700BDL, and it was a real tack driver. He shot a 220 grain bullet. I've been thinking about getting one and re-loading some 200 grain Barnes TSX. I've found a couple Rem. 600's and one 660 on Gun Broker. Any feedback?

Cool cartridge that never really caught on. It and the 6.5 Rem Mag were introduced in the Rem 600 and 660 rifles in the 60s. They had very short barrels that did not help recoil or muzzle blast, and hurt ballistics. They are not much different from today's Win short mags, or Rem's SAUM, except that the 350 and 6.5 Rem mags have a belt, while the newer stuff does not. I have often thought about having a gun rebarreled to those rounds, with a 22 or 24 inch barrel, it would give good ballistics. Performance wise, the 350 Rem Mag is very close to a 35 Whelen, except it can fit in a shorter action. I know Ruger made a few of those not long ago in their Ruger 77.

I have a Remington model 673 in .350, it is an absolute beast! I load a 200grn Hornady softpoint over a max load of H4895 for 2775fps. Not much fun off the bench, but knocks the tar out of deer. Overkill? Maybe, but deer dont run far, and leave good blood trails.

I have a 350 Mag in a 673 Rem Guide Gun. Shoots factory core loks at an inch at 100. Does a little better with a Max load of Tac and 200 grain Hornady's. Deer don't travel far after being hit.
