I was planning on buying a ruger mini 30 , but have had some suggestions to look at these first , any thoughts ??

what will be the rifles primary purpose??if you are just gonna bang away and play with it 7.62x39 ammo can be had cheaper and is plenty for close range deer hunting,,and you can get an AR chambered in the 7.62 also,,

if you want more accuracy and will be running a suppressor and shooting subs the Whisper is the way to go in an AR platform,,

in a bolt gun you can load the 308 to duplicate either and then do a lot more also,,

I want to buy a 223 and then but the 300 upper . I'd like to hunt with it some but I also like plinking so I see your point on the 7.62x39 , still tossing around ideas

I'd go with a SAAMI standard caliber (.300 blackout) for more product support for both guns and ammunition. Also, Hornady says you can shoot their .300 whisper load in a blackout barrel.

Go with the .300 BLK. There's no reason to waste money on a Mini-30. The Mini-30 is not as accurate, the magazines are more expensive, it's hard to reload ammmo for, your choice of factory ammo (bullet styles, weights, and performance) is severely limited, and the AR in .300BLK is modular (and therefore adaptable to another caliber or configuration).

The .300 BLK round is superior to 7.62x39 due to its various loadings available.

i had a mini 30 that was the most inaccurate gun that i ever owned

X3!

I recently had a mini 30 & it wouldn't shoot a 6" group at 75 yds. I recently purchased a 300 blackout upper from RedX Arms & I really like it. Plenty accurate. RH
