For you 30-06 users, what load are you guys useing? I've been useing Winchester 180gr PowerPoints and every deer i've ever shot with them, it has put them down in their tracks, but the entry and exit holes aren't to impressive..Whats a good factory load that is good and accurate and put deer down with a good sized hole??? Im also thinking of going to a smaller grained bullet, like 150 ot 165gr..Somewhere in their..Anybody care to reccomend a load to look at? Gonna be taking shots out to 200 yds..Maybe 250yds..Im getting a jump start on changeing ammo for my 30-06,and wanna get some range time before gun season gets here.

i shoot 150 gr. ballistic silvertips and i drop ever deer in the tracks. the longest shot was 150 yards

Not trying to be a smart A$$ but, what would an impressive entry and exit hole look like from a 30-06 in your opinion? If the bullets drop them in their tracks, I wouldn't switch at all. Any deer hit in the vitals will die, especially from an -06.

If it aint broke, you know the rest.

Well, mostly Im wanting a lighter bullet for flatter trajectory at longer distances..I know they make the power point in 150gr,may give those a try...

165 hornady sst. Can't get power points to group under 3" at 100 yd in a remington sps. The sst get 3/4" groups.

What he said. I using them in a 308 but close none the less. The BT's really tightened my groups up and the deer never knew the difference. The difference in the wallet is noticeable though. On paper the 168gr should fly good too.
Best of luck,

150GR Partitions,AB's and Barnes on top of eitther RL 19(mostaly) or H-414

I shoot the 180 grain remington core-lokts under $20 per box. They seem to do the trick. With a 100 yard zero they're around 8 inches low at 200. Never had a deer go more than 50 yards including the mule deer i hit in the hams at over 300 yards, although it did require a follow up shot.

Try the 150 grain power points Cec.

If you want to buy some reloading components we can get together and use my dies and you can really experiment!
Thanks for the offer,i'd love to,but I really don't have the time.I had planned on picking up a box of the 150gr power points and shoot them side by side with the 180gr power points I have, and see which one it likes best.
