To keep myself off the streets and out of trouble, I'm playing around with some loads with my '06 to use as a back up for my .338. Prob use Nosler 180gr Partitions.
Anyone used RL 22?? OR Superformance powders?? THANKS Ray

If I shoot 180's I use 60-62grs H4831. The 180 ballistic tip was 2737fps out of my 30-06 with 60grs h4831. It's an extreme powder so it's not temp sensitive.

Not "as" temp sensitive. I believe all powders are temp sensitive.... even if it's just a little bit.

True, less would have been correct.

h4831 may gain or lose 10 fps and RL22 may gain or lose 100fps depending on temp. I think Hodgdon states 8-12fps from 0-125 degrees

A friend had a great load with imr4350 and put his rifle and ammo in a freezer for 3hrs. When he shot it he lost 157fps and his group was around 3" and way low right.

Wow...that's a pretty big shift. I generally work up loads for hunting in the fall, winter, and early spring. Thinking the magic number is 82 degrees. For summer yote hunting...I work up loads in the summer...above mid 80s.
Don't know if I'm really accomplishing anything..but it's how I do it.

If you aren't looking for something for long range, I seen these yesterday. Looked like a good price, and I've heard the Alaska is a good bullet.

Yeah it was pretty wild. The load was mild with quite a bit of air space but I'm not sure if that had much to do with it. From reading imr4350 is pretty temp sensitive.

Sounds like you have a pretty solid was of working loads up.

Looks like, according to nosler, the RL22 produced the most speed and most accurate load.

To get that much in the case, do you use a long drop tube or funnel it in?
