Had a great 3 days of bow season even before yesterday evening. Did not see that many deer but had an awsome time in the woods. Saw 6 does Sunday afternoon in this one spot but they went about 70 yds from my tree ( you would think they would have followed the plan) so I went back Monday afternoon and changed trees. Wind changed on me and heard some deer blowing about 5. Figure the gig was up from those does but I had another bedding area in front of me so not all was lost. Well about 6:20 I looked behind me and caught movement and could tell it was a buck. Also saw another deer behind him but did not know what it was. Big boy comes in like I gave him mapquest directions. He hit a clearing but I was shooting just above a bent sappling. shot and he jumped went 40 yds and started feeding. Could not believe I missed. Knocked another arrow and started looking to see what was coming next. Then this guys comes running in and stops and starts walking. Had 1 opening at 35 yds. He went maybe 20 yds after the shot. good way to end a 3 day hunt. sad thing was the first buck had a few more points and taller but not as wide rack. I'm no expert on this but the processor told me he was 4 1/2 maybe 5 1/2 years old. Guessed weight 170 to 180. I just know he was heavy getting out the woods. Thank goodness for deer carts. Would hate to think If I had to drag him any length.
