270 WSM fastest load

I have a Win Model 70 Classic Featherweight 270 WSM, I never really got serious with,,my 25-06 barrel is toast and thinking about working up a serious 270 WSM load,,what I like is to be able to zero somewhere close to 300 yards and not be over 3 inches high and be able to hold on hair without dialing any dope to 400 or so,,
which powders get the most speed from 130-140 gr bullets,,

hopefully by next fall my old 25-06 will be a 6mm-06 shooting the Berger 105 Hunting VLD at 3400 fps and I can move the zero out to 325 or so and hold on past 400 yards with no worries,,

I cannot get to a ballistics table at this moment but a 140 grain at 3700 FPS ought to be holding its own quite a ways out.

If you have a barrel dampner, one of those doughnut-looking rubber things, may want to have it handy for testing. That Model 70 barrel is a bit on the thin side isn't it?

wowzer the 100 and 110 Accubonds at 36-3700 are lazers,,I will have to see that on chrono,,if they will hold moa to 500 at those speeds I will ride them,,

zeroed at 300 is less than 8 low at 400 with over 1500 ft lbs,,

I've gotten 3625 out of mine with 110 gr. TTSXs and 4350. The BC isn't the greatest on the TTSXs so something like a 130 gr. AccuBond may be more of what you're looking for.

the TTSX at 3625 is so far the flatest to 400 of any 270 load I have ran across the JBM program,,with a 300 zero it is just over 7 low at 400 and 1600 ft lbs,,,how does it do at close range?

I am gonna mount the 4.5-14 LR/T M1 on the WSM and with that load it woul be zeroed at 300 and the 1st line in the B&C would be 400 and the 2nd would get 500,,which is flatter than my 25-06 100 gr load I have shot since the late 80`s and the standard I compare loads to,,

Not sure how it does on deer but it'll zip right through a coyote at 50ish yrds.

I've seen reports of pushing them fast enough that they lose their petals on impact but they still penetrate and the main portion passes all the way through.

Not the exact same bullet, but I've shot one deer up close with the .257 100gr TTSX from the 257 Weatherby @ 3,590fps. It was a buck quartering away from me at about 45 yards and I hit him about 2/3 of the way back in the ribs - the bullet exited just behind the shoulder on the offside. Don't know if the petals sheared off or not but it gave a nice quarter size exit hole and dropped him in about 50 yards. He was already running fast when hit too. IMO the TTSX is one of the better bullets for the fast magnums when a deer comes up on you too close for other bullets to hold together well.
