I picked my son up a Cva optima last night and have a box of xtp's in the safe from when I got my savage. My question is how do they perform on deer at speeds pushed by 2 50gn pyrodex pellets?
Thanks
Thanks

i just dont care to use a "pistol" bullet in a ml for long range shots for 100 yds or less as long as accuracy is there they are good to go

Tho the SSTs will be more aerodynamic but they are not any tougher.2 50 grn pellets will net you around 1800-1850 fps IIRC. In order to get 2 holes you are going to need go to a tougher bullet...namely a copper bullet if you want consistant reliable penetration at those fps. or bump up to a 300 grn bullet as has been suggested...but then you have more recoil. If this do not appeal to you do as suggested and keep it under 100yds.fullstream said:Thanks guys, I think i'm just gonna get 250 sst's and stop trying to be a cheap skate....![]()
