Recently got a 25-06. Most likely gonna use 110gr eld-x or a ballistic tip. What powder do you guys like. I've got a few on hand, Varget, h4831, imr4350, imr4064. I know the 4831 can be used but what have you guys found that works well. I don't mind staying with a powder in hand or getting a new one. I also don't mind getting a suggestion on a bullet either.

I'll also add I'm somewhat in the market for a scope. I personally prefer higher mag scopes, like 3-15 or 4-16. Don't mind more but I don't like 6-24 for hunting. I'd say I have a $500 budget but would rather not max it out if possible. I do have a viper hs in 4-16 that I thought about using and getting something closer like a 2-10 for my smokeless gun.

This is probably of little use, but I have a 25 wssm. Ballistically, it's just a little shy of the '06. Mine likes H4350 and 117g Hornady round nose. Of course, I don't use it for long range, but I've shot deer out to about 200. Bang flop.

I've always used either IMR 4350 or IMR 4831 in my 25-06. Favorite bullets for deer 115 and 120 gr Nosler Partition. The only other bullet I ever used on deer was one doe with a 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip. Most all of these were instant drops.

I stopped by the local gun store and didn't expect much with all the current events going on. Ended up with a box the eld-x as that was basically all they had. Gonna try h4831 since I have a pound and no current use for it. I have a partial pound of the imr4350 and that will be my next choice if the 4831 doesn't pan out. My manuals and several forums like the h4831, but lots of people like 4350 as well. Time will tell.

Yeah, right now you can't be choosy. I went by Academy in Madison, AL a while back and most shelves were empty in the ammo and loading area.
It was either eldx or 117 Hornady btsp. That's ok they had lol. Did have quite a bit of powder tho

I've got some 100g Swift Sciroccos, and some 100g NBT, if you are interested. PM me if interested.

My go to 25.06 load included a 100 gr bullet and a bunch of imr4831..usually good for less than half inch groups and well over 3400 fps

Imr 4831 is on my list of powder to try if the h4831 doesn't work out. Lots of good reviews on it.

I have a couple of 25-06's and IMR4831 or IMR4350 shoot very good in both. My latest load for a Sako L61R is 51.0 gr IMR-4831, 200-CCI primer, 110 gr Nosler Accubond, Win brass, with the bullet seated .03" off lands. This averages around 3080fps and my best 3-shot group so far has been 0.680" @ 200 yards. I have not shot a deer with this load yet, but it should be a hammer. I really like the Nosler 115 gr partitions as well.

Thanks. I have some options at the moment as far as powder and bullets. Once my scope comes in I'll get to testing some.

IMR 4831, 52 gr, 117 sierra SBT, yielded some of the best groups Ive ever shot with ANY rifle. Im talking .25" groups.

Winchester 120gr positive expanding point ammunition shoots very well out of my FN Mauser. I also use 57.5 of H4831 and 85gr Nosler BT's for an accurate varmint load.

When you get into higher magnification scopes like 4x16 and 6x20 your going to need some good quality lens . Hard to come by with a $500 price tag .

beat bang for your buck is going to be this . Nikon has discontinued its line of scopes but should serve u well . Only thing else in its price class is Vortex and Bushnell and the optic quality is surly lacking .

I ended up getting a vx3i 4.5-14x40 with the zero lock for this rifle. No way I'm getting a Nikon these days without a warranty, or even with a warranty if I'm gonna end up with a Nikon voucher.

Still working on the load but I've gotten to this point so far. 53.2gr of rl 22 and a 110 eldx. I've made a scope adjustment and plan on sending a few more for verification. once supplies get more available I plan on testing some others. And I'd like to revisit this load and see if I can close it up.

Damn proud of you buying a Leupold . Would have been my recommendation for sure .
