2025 Kill Thread

It seems as if it's a common problem for me. I lost a great buck last year to not having much blood. I shot an 8 point in Oak Ridge a couple years ago and had I not heard him crash I would have never found him.

Are you getting passthroughs?

You hunting from the ground or in a tree? If from the ground, that might explain the lack of an adequate blood trail. I've seen that happen numerous times from the ground since the blood tends to pool inside the cavity.

All but a couple have been shot from a stand. One is a gimme shot and it fell within 2 steps. So I won't count that one.

Sure is. Bought it new in 2008, so this is its 18th season and ~20th kill (deer and turkey; also 2 yotes; I don't keep track of squirrels, or groundhogs).

I replaced the limbs and string ~2015/2016 and still shoot it ~50-100/week during late spring and summer, a bit less from bow opener through early January. I still carry one of the GT arrows I bought with the bow in 2008.

A grand total of 34 acres lol. Boarders national Forrest on 2 sides. My property is the first piece they hit for cover. To which a tornado helped with a couple years ago. And I do plots, have planted trees…been there 9 years now. This is only the 2nd buck I've killed off my own piece. But the kids have been super blessed here.

I've got 50 acres with forest on top sides. Have a plan but haven't had the opportunity to get the cuts I need done. Hopefully it works out as well for us. Congrats of your buck.
