I sowed two seperate plots with a combination of wheat/ crimson clover. One plot is on a ridge, the other is in a bottom but both are the same property.

My plot on the ridge was planted a week later but has outperformed my plot in the bottom big time.

My ridge plot seems that the wheat is really taking over, as my plot in the bottom seems to prefer the clover. I do know the ridge plot gets more direct sunlight.

My question is, Is it just the difference in soils? Or is it possible that my seed just wasnt mixed well?

Also, both times I have checked my plots, deer have been present. Should I focus more early season on the wheat, or more on the clover?

I would think right now deer would be ignoring the plots and munching up those acorns that are everywhere. My pictures have dropped to almost nothing - which tells me they have plenty of food and are not traveling a lot to find it.
