What do you like and why? I am leaning toward the crimson carry 1911 kimber.

I have a Series 1 Kimber Classic Stainless. Shoots great, 100% reliable thus far and looks good. My favorite pistol I own. I had a Custom II that I sold a few years ago that shot well too. I really like the Dan Wesson 1911s as well. Hard to beat the Springfield and S&W 1911s as well.

My 1911 experience is with a Sig GSR Revolution Nitron. The pistol was 100% reliable and the most pleasant pistol I've ever shot. I ended up trading it because I never shot it and it was too heavy for me to carry comfortably.

Commander models have 4.25 inch barrels. Nice pistols by the way.

i call the kimber my American Express - don't leave home without it

i'm still getting to know the .45 but i like it so far. it shoots a bit below point of aim and i haven't really taken the time to sight in the laser.

i don't know if it's the compact model or what but my full size .45 i shoot fine but the compact models i shoot a little low.

it's not really a compact but not full size either. all the reviews i have seen commented on them hitting below point of aim for most shooters.

You might want to try changing out the front blade. Brownell's sell them in different heights.

there is also a full size springfield .45 in the family but it belongs to twig.

i like the taurus for carry its cheap and reliable . with that said for a safe queen , series 70 and 80 colts and maybe a custom.

i would love a springfield trp operator as well!!

I have the Springfield GI model in OD Green. Simple gun, but shoots great.
