.17 HMR for tree rats?

It's fun, but it's really not fair to the squirrels. As others have said, head shots only. I have a CZ455 with a vortex 6-18 on it. Late season is a blast where you can really stretch it out in the open woods.

I learned to not shoot a limit without picking them up after each shot, lost a few in Il in the Shawnee forest river bottoms, 100y shots cost me a few hours of walking back to my base tree and trying to decide which tree I shot 2, you ever notice all the dam tree's look alike when you walk very far 😂 , 80y with the magnum seems like a long ways but the 17 really can reach out there, haven't shot the heavier bullets to see how well they stay together but may try some this season
