I'm betting we will see a new state record out of Chickamauga in 2014... :)
I will agree, very likely a new State record in the next couple years to come from the Chic! This is a Sow right here already!

Wowzer! Are they crossing with the Florida strain or something?

I always figured our best bet of the major reservoirs would be Kentucky Lake. But then, KY Lake is downstream from Chickamauga. :)

Yes......there are some Florida strain bass in Chickamauga. I think I saw some data that they were crossing. Simms could give a lot better answer than I can.

I will say this. 10 years ago in tournaments, a five fish limit weighed about what a 3 fish limit weighs now. The days of 6 to 7 pounds winning a 3 fish tournament around here are gone. I see 11-12 pounds winning B&B Tournament every week. 4, 5 and 6 pound fish are weighed almost every week.

THE GOOD OLD DAYS ARE NOW!

Yes, actually quite a few Florida strain LM have been stocked in Chicamauga in recent years.

Sir Richard, you did a great job on the video clip. :)

I would think this bodes well for all the lakes farther downstream on the TN River, as there should be some downstream "drift" of the fishery.

I have never been able to figure Chickamauga out. Some love it. I hate it. We have a couple work tournaments there every year, and usually have 5-10 boats fish it. We put in at Goodfield boat ramp. We're not Bassmaster Elite series guys, because it seldom takes more than 6 lbs to win ours. As a matter of fact, the last one I fished in was won by 6 lbs....one 4 pounder and barely a keeper that he had with it. I've seen good bags come out of there though...but I dislike milfoil with a passion and just ain't ever figured that place out.

Hope it was released back to get bigger. Good fish for sure.

From the reports I heard the fish was photographed, weighed, measured and released after the tournament.
Now if that fish will just lock on thru a couple dams, maybe it will next show up in Kentucky Lake. :)

Seriously, the bass seem to be getting bigger all the way on down the TN River as well.

Speaking of a few nearby state record largemouths . . . . .
TN = 14 lbs, 8 oz
KY = 13 lbs, 10 oz
Indiana = 14 lbs, 12 oz (bet a lot didn't know that!)
Missouri = 13 lbs, 14 oz
Arkansas = 16 lbs, 8 oz ---- Wow!
Alabama = 16 lbs, 8 oz
Virginia = 16 lbs, 4 oz ---- How's that for a surprise?
