I'm working on an article for CrappieNOW magazine regarding angler's feelings and attitudes on the crappie size limits and creel limits in their home state. We have posted a survey asking for YOUR opinions on YOUR home state.

We hope you'll participate here: https://crappienow.com/magazine/crappienow-feedback/ It is simple and should only take one minute, literally.

We know there are some variables we may not address in the survey... such as individual lakes in your state that might have differing limits from the "Statewide Limit." Feel free to mention those in the Comments, if you wish.

Thanks very much for your participation. Meanwhile, while you're there you can check out some great articles in the March Issue.

I would argue that our shining example are the 4 lakes in MS with over 12 inch and limits of 15. People come from all over the country to fish those lakes. Why couldn't TN do similar on certain lakes?

only speaking for KY lake, it would be counter productive to do so, according to research from TTU. they go so far as to say that some embayments could see an improvement with a 9" length but would be impossible to enforce.

2019 was an improved year with the fall catches average 1.5 lbs to some 2 lbs in tournaments. mainly because the return of bait forage. the problem i see in KY lake is receding natural cover back to the 358 water mark along with most of the grass removed by flooding in 2010. i believe there was a great spawn around 2017 as well as for bass and i think we will see an uptick by 2021. i think Barkley has done really well but its a little younger lake with some good habitat left.

on average, a little over 3 years for a crappie to reach 10" on KY lake. average growth for tennessee lakes is 3.27 years to reach 10".

you werent wrong bluball, there are some parts of ky lake that can grow a 10" crappie in 2 years. the number i posted was from a study that averaged the entire lake.

if i can find it i remember paul rister explaining why ky lake doesnt have a longer length limit. it has to do with growth rate, mortality and natural mortality. i will post in a seperate thread if i can find it. dont want to hijack mr simms thread.
