OK Boys...I've got a great many jugs for catfishing and have a box built for storage, etc. - pic below. My question on noodles is all the videos I've seen, they put some sort of weight in the PVC pipe. Does this have to be done?

No. It's kinda a pain. The idea is that if something pulls on the line the weight will slide to the line side and stand up. Doesn't work very well IMO.

I have mine rigged with a bolt or piece of rebar in them. The idea is, with enough weight, it will keep the noodle upright even if the fish gets off, so you can tell just by looking at
them if you need to rebait or check for fish. Also the way mine are rigged it creates a loud pop sound when the weight slides down and you can hear it a long way off. People have always
laughed at me when I pull a couple out. All they see a pool noodle with a piece of PVC and reflective tape and wonder how is this going to work. Most quit laughing soon
after, when the noodles start dancing. My FIL thought it was the dumbest thing he had ever seen until he couldn't fish due to chasing down noodles all evening. Try a couple with weights
of some sort and see what you think.
