My last post was not meant as an attack. I'm sorry if anyone took it that way. It was an attempt to illustrate the importance of good grammar. Obviously, the attempt failed. At least my posts have generated quite a lot of conversation here. 😉 I'll just chalk this whole thing up as another...

Okay. I stand by my statement. Your writing is definitely a reflection of yourself. Your writing brings up an image of an ignoramus with only about a third grade education. If you talk the same way that you write then I don't see how anyone would hire you for any position of authority...

The "huh?" comment, I assume, is in reference to your poor grammar, use of "there" when you meant "their", and your total lack of punctuation. I'm not meaning to criticize, but you would probably do better in life if you get an education and learn how to write a coherent sentence.

Lacking hunting motivation-never thought I’d get here!

Ha.. Just wait until you're in your 70's and see how you feel then. o_O Now, at 74, all my old hunting partners are either deceased or have put away their guns. My children and grandchildren don't hunt (one does fish, at least) Cancer really knocked the stuffing out of me a couple of years...

    New guy

Welcome. I'm 70 - 90 miles down the road from you in Cleveland, TN. (gotta add the TN because I don't want to get it confused with the Cleveland in OH) Anyway, also retired from LE. Long time ago - 1999. Yeah, I'm old. Up north I raised, trained, hunted with, and did some field trialing with...

What gun/caliber is your GO-TO for hunting 2022

Well, I've probably taken more deer with my old Marlin 336C in .30/30 than any of my other rifles. I also took one black bear with it. My Remington 700 in .30/06 has also accounted for some deer, pronghorn, and caribou. However, for the last 25 years or so I have been almost exclusively a...

    Any ideas?

I certainly am NOT an expert on Central American art, but something about it just does not look Mayan to me. More Aztec, maybe. My first thought on seeing it was "mother and child". Maybe "goddess and king or noble warrior?" A starting point might be to take it to the history dept., of the U...

    Anybody hunting South Cherokee?

Not me. I did some bow hunting for several seasons back in the 1970's. Didn't take to it. "Traditional" (real) muzzleloaders are all that I use now.

Another New One from East Tennessee

Welcome. I'm another Jersey refugee. However I escaped way back in 1979 when it wasn't so bad there as it is now. Moved around a lot. First, Arizona, then up state New York (bad there too), then Michigan for 14 years. Finally, I retired here to SE Tennessee. Like it here immensely except...

How does your turkey gun stack up against these light-weights?

My "turkey gun" is an ancient Western Field single shot 12 gauge with a built-in full choke. I don't know for certain, but I would guess it weighs in the neighborhood of 5 1/2 pounds. I prefer #5 shot in the standard 2 3/4" shot shells. My other turkey gun is a replica of a trade gun from the...

    Lee hand press?

The only dies (die) I have for my old Lyman 310 is .300 Savage. No, I do not have a rifle in that caliber. I do, however, use the 310 to decap brass. These days I'm primarily a traditional muzzleloader and rarely do any reloading any more. I just want the Lee hand loader handy whenever I do...

    Lee hand press?

Thank you. I have a Dillon press and a lot of various RCBS dies. I also have a very old Lyman 310 tool, but the Lyman will not take the RCBS dies. I want a small, portable hand reloader that will use the dies I already have. I think the Lee hand press will do the job.

Does the Lee hand press accept RCBS dies?

    Shotgun all around hunting recommendations?

Yes, what do you mean by "all around"? Small game, such as rabbits, squirrels, quail, doves, pheasant, grouse I like a 20 gauge. If you include waterfowl, and big game such as deer, pigs, bear, then I would choose a 12 gauge. An "all around" shotgun, in my opinion, would be a 12 gauge pump with...
