CVA Accura .50 muzzleloader
Bought a Savage Axis II in .308 but haven't had a chance to sight it in yet.
For thick stuff, Mossberg 500 20 gauge, open sights and Accutip slugs

They are very good bullets.
I am gonna try some hammer bullets this year. Very interested to see how they do.
I shoot 300gr Hammers in one of my 40cal sml's at 3000fps. They are the real deal. Shoulder shot a buck a couple years ago around 200yds. It destroyed both shoulders and blew the sternum out the front. At high velocity they work like a partition. The front end explodes and the rear 2/3 keep on going

well.... I got a bunch to choose from. so any could be my go to if I grabbed it, most likely a savage or tikka 308, or 270. if it's thick maybe my CZ 527 7.62x39.... if I'm feeling nostalgic my Remington 700 BDL DM. in 270, my dad got me at 8 years old... but probably won't matter cause so many of these peckerwoods up here like to use a 22 mag and spotlight year round

REM 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06. Began as my brothers gun in the 70s. I inherited it in the early 80s. Been shooting it ever since.

I most enjoy hunting dense woods & thickets, where my trusty Marlin 336 30-30 is hard to beat. When I do hunt open fields, I most often take my Rem 788 .243. Both are a joy to shoot. However, I'm strongly considering packing my wife's Grandpa's old Win 94 30-30. I've had it almost 30 years, it's so old it's not even tapped for a scope, & I've never hunted with it. Grandpa & Grandma raised 16 kids in little towns along the Oregon Trail & Grandpa used that old 30-30 to hunt mule deer & antelope to feed his family. I'd like to see if the old girl has another couple deer in her.

Well, I've probably taken more deer with my old Marlin 336C in .30/30 than any of my other rifles. I also took one black bear with it. My Remington 700 in .30/06 has also accounted for some deer, pronghorn, and caribou.

However, for the last 25 years or so I have been almost exclusively a traditional muzzleloaders. My main rifle is a .50 percussion long rifle with a 42 inch octagon barrel. I made it myself. Sometimes I use a flintlock of the same caliber.
