duck hunters, summer lake lice and the van dam wannabes. maybe 2 months of good fishing in a year on the big lakes.
Wind is usually the toughest thing for me to deal with this time of year in my boat. I have a stock trolling motor on my Tracker 175 and since the boat is so light and the trolling motor isn't super beefy, I blow all over the place.I love fishing during the winter but its hard to get good conditions during the winter. Between the flooding that causes a lot of current and muddy water. You also get a lot of north winds with cold fronts which makes it brutal on KY lake. When you get a warm day its usually involves a strong south wind.
the ones where they stick a duck blind 50 yards from a boat ramp and in every creek mouth possible, and 15 of them in the back water. What are these "big lakes" you speak of?![]()
What is summer lake lice?duck hunters, summer lake lice and the van dam wannabes. maybe 2 months of good fishing in a year on the big lakes.
aholes on waverunners that like to mess with fishermen. pontoon drinkers that thinks its cool to anchor right beside you and dump their 15 kids into the water to swim. lake lice usually come out of hibernation the 3rd week in may. What is summer lake lice?
around here it is jet skis and wake boats. wish they would ban the wake boats, they do more damage than 1000 bass boatsWhat is summer lake lice?

Whoa now…don't lump all wake boats into the same category. I grew up fishing with my grandad and still go with a buddy a few times a year and for every a-hole in a wake boat there's an equal a-hole in a bass boat. When we surf I head for big water away from the coves and shoreline and try to stay away from any other boats as much as possible. When we anchor down in a cove I've had fisherman come so close to me I could have jumped in their boat. It's a 2-way street and because I do both I get both sides. A little common sense and courtesy go a long way.Hate the wake boats. Most have no respect for anyone
I agree except for one thing, for the most part if a fishing boat goes by at decent rate of speed, he may make noise but the wakes are not going to bother anything. A wake boat goes by, hopefully you can stay in the boat, the wakes created by those things should be illegal.Whoa now…don't lump all wake boats into the same category. That's why I said I go to the big water when we surf. As far as them being made illegal you're entitled to that opinion. I disagree. Again it goes back to having some common sense and showing some courtesy for others on the lake regardless of what you're doing on the lake. Contrary to some opinions it's not just for fisherman.I agree except for one thing, for the most part if a fishing boat goes by at decent rate of speed, he may make noise but the wakes are not going to bother anything. Ageed but there aren't many places on most, if not all lakes in Tennessee that are big enough for them. Those wake boats create wakes that are dangerous for most everyone and every boat but them, and I include the gigantic cruisers that running around on lakes, even on Priest. The wakes never get smaller, they wreak havoc not only on docks but the shoreline also. The wakes created by them can create issues hundreds of yards away from the boat that create them. Yes they should be illegal on all but the largest of lakes and then they should be limited to certain areas. That's why I said I go to the big water when we surf. We get a few months to play on the water and the fishermen can use it all 12. Get over it!Ageed but there aren't many places on most, if not all lakes in Tennessee that are big enough for them. Also, there is a law that each boat is responsible for its wake and any damage it creates. If this was enforced, as it should be, I bet there would be fewer wake boats on many lakes.
Welcome back.Lack of respect is universal across the lakes and rivers. However, the pleasure riders are much worse. I've had fishermen come in on top of me but I haven't ever had a fishing boat circle me and make back/forth passes just to tick me off. Pleasure riders though take joy in doing that though…commonly. On the lake you can find places to get away from them. On rivers like the Hiwassee….you just have to load up and leave.
LOL! lake lice, LOVE IT!duck hunters, summer lake lice and the van dam wannabes. maybe 2 months of good fishing in a year on the big lakes.
The phenomena of wake boats started in about 2004-2006 and only has exploded, lakes must adapt in rules as to when to let them run, I say you let them run on sat and sundays ONLY. regulate them due to the big time waves the make.Ageed but there aren't many places on most, if not all lakes in Tennessee that are big enough for them. Govt over reach is more in your life than you think, there is good and bad over reach. banning guns, stupid. telling people not to ruin lakes etc with their wake board motors, smart.yall sound like a bunch of liberals crying for more gov't overreach lol!!
Most of the time that would be fine by me but what about those who work weekends and are off during the week? The lake is for all kinds of activities not just fishing and people need to respect each other and learn to coexist on the water. The phenomena of wake boats started in about 2004-2006 and only has exploded, lakes must adapt in rules as to when to let them run, I say you let them run on sat and sundays ONLY. regulate them due to the big time waves the make.
Yup, imagine the outcry if they tried to tell you that you could only fish on saturday and sunday lolMost of the time that would be fine by me but what about those who work weekends and are off during the week? the only problem i have is most of the stunts i see and have to deal with is plain stupidity or ignorance.Yup, imagine the outcry if they tried to tell you that you could only fish on saturday and sunday lol
No problem coexisting, however when i am in a cove over 100 yards away and a wake boat comes past and the waves throw my adult son off the front and tosses my adult daughter out of her seat it becomes a problem. not pointing fingers at you as i believe you have the right idea about staying in the main parts of the lake, however many other dont share your thought process. Most of the time that would be fine by me but what about those who work weekends and are off during the week? Believe me I get it as we've been rocked by them too. Some try to see who can get the biggest wake for appearance. We just want enough to get the push to surf. In all honesty we surf very little as my wife is a slalom skier so we can do both on our boat. Most of the time if we do it we do so early before everybody and their mother gets on the water and then anchor down and watch the show.No problem coexisting, however when i am in a cove over 100 yards away and a wake boat comes past and the waves throw my adult son off the front and tosses my adult daughter out of her seat it becomes a problem. not pointing fingers at you as i believe you have the right idea about staying in the main parts of the lake, however many other dont share your thought process.
