I use 2 White Hotts (100 g) and the kick is nothing compared to the slug gun I used to use (20ga)

I'll be watching, and adding info after I go to the range next week.
Very interested to hear about what bullet and load performs best in the Wolf.

Damn that's a big kid.😀
2 white hotts, 295 grain Powerbelts give me 1.5" groups at 160 yards.

I have a tc triumph. Since pulling it out of the box, I shoot 70 grains by weight, 90 grains by volume of Blackhorn 209. I exclusively use 200 grain bullets. I can consistently shoot 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards with no problem. One thing you will need is the cleaning solution. It takes very little to clean after 10 shots. I only use 4 patches to clean, and grease my gun after shooting it. In honest opinion, I would like to kick myself for not switching to Blackhorn 209 sooner.

I think 80-100 gr should do. With that grain anything over 100 yards is going to loose energy and speed and drop fast. Look up some info on your rounds and powder it should be on the paper with the bullets. You don't want to be getting close to about 1100fps speed of sound at 150 yards. I shoot 125gr Winchester 777 loose powder .295gr power belt and I'm at around 2000fps at muzzle and shot a nice 8 point 1st morning of muzzle loader last year at 10 yards and didn't get a pass through he didn't go 40 yards. I personally with his size try to get him at 100gr powder. But definitely look at the paperwork that came with bullet. Heavier bullets keep better energy and speed longer atshorter distances that lighter rounds read the paper you'll see.

Please don't try 100gr by weight^ I'm sure Madbowh meant volumetric measurements but Mike243 asked about weight.

I have a wolf set up for my son. Much younger and smaller. It groups well at 100yds (1.5inch) with 60gr(by volume) and a 200gr XPB. It's got basically no recoil. I will step him up in powder and bullet at he grows. I don't think i'd let him shoot a deer further than 75yds.

I shoot an optima with 100gr by volume(70gr by weight) with a 250gr Barnes Expander. I'm sure your GS could handle this much powder but he may develop a flinch if he's not a confident shooter.

Make sure you measure by volume in a blackhorn tube however many grains you do use. Don't weigh it with a scale like you would smokeless powder for reloading.

I am not new to muzzyloaders, I shoot a Savage with 43g on N110, short barrel on this wolf I have no experience on loads, i dont have a volume tube as it got given to my son with the Optima when I went smokeless, weighing the power is the best method for my $ have shot untold amounts of bullets through them over the years, its my favorite season
