March 1st. Walked out to leave for work and hear birds gobbling! It's getting closer!
You're my heroI'm just gonna leave these right here
Heck yeah!We going in the morning?
Using that to trigger a shock gobble I assumeNeed to sight my .17 in this afternoon.
I have a bachelor group I'm getting pics of every day behind my house. There's 5 of them. They are staying away from the 25+ hens I have been seeing. These this morning were across the road on the TN side. Hoping it will be another great year around here. When I was up there last weekend, all toms were still in bachelor groups away from the hens/jennies/jakes. I heard one group yelping a bit on the limb at sunrise, but none gobbled.
On another farm 7 miles away, there has been a bachelor group of 3 that have been gobbling almost every morning since mid December. No idea why those particular birds have been so vocal past couple months.
So the turkeys in Kentucky are gay too and avoid the ladies!I have a bachelor group I'm getting pics of every day behind my house. There's 5 of them. They are staying away from the 25+ hens I have been seeing. These this morning were across the road on the TN side. Hoping it will be another great year around here.
Squirrel season doesn't close til March 15. Been the closing date for about 2 years now.Went out yesterday for the last day of squirrel hunting and heard one across the river gobbling at sunset. Now the real countdown begins for the best hunting season of them all.
I'm in South Carolina still, our season technically ended today but it's been raining non stop since sunrise and the high was 44. So squirrel season ended yesterdaySquirrel season doesn't close til March 15. Been the closing date for about 2 years now.
