I'll be out with my 10 yr old. He wants to sling the crossbow tomorrow so fingers crossed.

I hope to go in the morning. That is if my 13-year-old will get up on his own. I tell him I'll take him wherever and whenever, but he has to get up on his own, set his own alarm etc. If he does not get up, I'm still headed to the woods to do a little nature observing.

My son is now 19 and gave up turkeys a long time ago and pretty much deer too. Hasn't been in the woods in 2-3 years. Good luck to all of the youth!!!

I wish I was taking my 10 yr old grandson. I got a new left knee Tues so laid up right now. He was kinda bummed when he figured out we couldn't go.... he's killed last two years & loves it. Told him we'd get out mid April one way or other.

Offered to take a kid in the church youth group my wife and I lead, but he got cold feet for some reason. Hope he changes his mind at some point this season.

I feel ya. My son killed his only turkey at 8 and never got hooked. Hasn't been after them in years and hasn't deer hunted in 2-3 due to work and a girl. He's 19 now.

My 13 yr old daughter has ball practice at 10. What were they thinking. We will b their as soon as that is done with. She has pretty good luck with them. We will see this year.

I took a kid today (to me... he's 25 ) today on my lease. After 6 miles, we finally found a bird, repositioned on him, and he flat out missed at 35y (12g 3.5in LB XRs 6)... never seen a MS bird do this, but he flushed back 15y, then just stood there. He was about to shoot again, but I called him off the 2nd shot. He just eased off in the woods completely uninjured. Tried to call him back in, but no luck. He acted like a pet bird.

My son caught a nap, lol. We put eyes on a nice Tom at about 80 yards, but I couldn't get him away from the four hen's he was trailing.

Chased a couple different flocks this morning with Shortie. Put about 3 miles on our boot leather in some really wet low lying timber. Couldn't get the boss hen mad enough to drag ol butterball our way but we sure had a heck of a good time and heard some good gobbling!

Heard 1 gobble at daylight. No clucks or anything else. Got back to the truck and one was hammering up the hill. Set up and called twice but he just slowly worked away from me, guessing with hens
