The weekend is not over for many young hunters and guardians but for us it is. Good luck to those still in the woods.

We missed the Saturday morning hunt but it was for good reason. My son, in his Angus Young costume, got to jam at a show in Nashville with his favorite band. They played an AC/DC song together.

Since we were out late the night before, we ended up in the blind for an evening hunt. We had two fawns come out and one was one step away from getting shot but it turned and walked directly away from us. Lucky deer!

As we left the farm, my son said "Daddy, I think God wanted me not to get that deer. I think he wants us to come back tomorrow and we will get a bigger one."

We got settled this morning before legal shooting time and at 7:45 I spotted 3 deer. One was a very large bodied deer but I couldn't see any antlers. My son wasn't going to be picky and when a different deer stopped broadside he didn't hesitate.

I owe one special guy on here a big thank you. After Helene, I was down with pneumonia for a week and wasn't sure I'd be able to get out to the lease to check on my blind before youth weekend. He made a special trip and repaired my blind to make sure that my son had a place to hunt this weekend. Thanks @scn

Awesome, nothing but good I've heard about scn . Congratulations on some fine eating and the boy looks like a rock star !

Congrats to him!

Never met @scn but in all my years here know he's one of the good guys so kudos to him. Assume yall are still hunting that same place out past Lebanon?

Also for everybody else if you're not following him on instagram do yourself a favor and do it. One talented young man with a guitar and apparently a dang good shot too!

Awesome weekend Pilchard. Steve is a stand up guy. I have to ask, who is your son's favorite band, Andrew W.K.?
@Buzzard Breath I think I misunderstood your question. His favorite local band are The Hippies and Cowboys. They are a mix of southern rock and Aerosmith. Great music and very entertaining. I think you'll hear them in the radio before too long.
