youth season

youth season is this weekend. MY 12 year old is ready to go. he's been hunting with me for 3 years and watched me take numerous deer. he shoots about 1 inch with his .30-30 at 75 yards. Last year, I even let him carry his gun on every hunt we went on, just never let him have a bullet and it was unloaded the entire time so he could get used to moving it around.

My question is, does he need any licenses at all or any paperwork for this weekend?

Hunter safety certification or apprentice license. No type 94 needed until general G/M/A season.

thank you!! he doesn have his hunter safety yet and I was freaking out. The apprentice license is the route we'll have to take this year.

It sounds like you are already doing it, but with the Apprentice License (hunter safety exemption), it requires that an adult 21 or older who meets the hunter safety requirements to hunt with the Apprentice hunter where they are always in position to take control of their hunting weapon.

yeah he isnt hunting by himself anytime soon! the apprenticeship license will just give us a year to get his hunter safety card.
