My kids are pretty spoiled and get to hunt some great places. But my boys (8 and 6)work hard at it. they help me plant plots, hang stands, and scout. They love it. All the hard work pays of when the rubber meets the road.

My 8 yr old took his fourth buck Saturday just after daylight. This buck walked out in a plot at 152 yrs and he smoked this 8 pt. with his youth .243 rem. bolt action.

and finally here is the plot where it all went down. My boys helped me plant this one night til midnight. without their help i wouldnt have gotten it done.

Right after this buck went down my son looked and me and said "I am sure am glad we stayed up and planted this plot before that rain that night".

I hugged him and said "me too, I am glad you helped me!"

Tell your boys Great Job and
"Congrats"
That's what makes this sport so great
Success, Sweat, Tears, and passing on the Tradition is the most Important

Awesome pics - my first child (a boy) is expected to be born any day now. I'm really looking forward to teaching him an appreciation for the outdoors.

Something dawned on me when looking at that first picture - the gun looks like it's pointed right at your youngest! Obviously the deer wasn't going to pull the trigger, but it certainly caught my eye. *shrug* can't catch em all...

Thanks guys. It is a blast hunting with your kids. I have not shot a deer in yrs but i clean 2-3 a yr.

The gun is just the camera angle. Not pointing at him and was unloaded and only used in the photo to cover exit hole.

also you guys with kids just starting to hunt take note.

Now both my boys can kill a limit of ducks flying and have. They both have killed many doves flying. They both have bolt action rifles and semi auto shotguns

BUT

They never get more than 1 shell at a time. i keep the xtras!

AND most importantly

Never let a kid walk with a loaded weapon!!!!!!!!!!!

We never load until we reach our blind or stand and are seated safely.
