You would think (smokeless)

by now some company would have come up with non corrosive, smokeless type powder that's weighed by volume to use in muzzleloaders? I shoot 777 in my c&bs but I'd shoot more often if cleaning wasn't a big deal. I wonder why? ATF reclassification of guns? Lawyers? I think trailboss is close but that's all I've ever seen, and they warn against using it in anything but modern cartridge guns.

They have.... BH209....but traditional methods (#11 cap) for igniting it sucks.

I've wondered about trying it in my Ruger Old Army with maybe a few grains of 4fg black powder under it as a primer to see how it works. With the price of BH209, however, trying it ain't going to happen.

Oh yes, cleaning cap and ball revolvers are a PITA IMHO.

I've found bh209 is corrosive just the same as any of the substitutes. I left a fired optima overnight and the barrel had several spots on the muzzle that I never could get off after that.
