You Just Never Know...

Living in SE and even south Texas, I'm fortunate to be able to eat good Mexican (including Tex-Mex) good regularly. This week I had a pleasant, although unexpected surprise.

I found what is likely the best Mexican food I've ever had (overall) in Neenah, WI just up the street from Lake Winnebego at Zacateca Mexican Grill.

Wow. Who would've thought?

That's interesting.

I'm finding pretty good Mexican food all over the country during my business travels. I attribute this to the wave of legal and illegal immigration that has been going on for many years now. When a good number of Mexicans move into a community it doesn't take long for a decent Mexican restaurant to open. The Southwest, agricultural communities and some big cities like Chicago have had large Mexican populations for a while now, and now many other cities are experiencing the introduction of Mexican and other Hispanic populations. Some of the best Mexican food I ever had was in Idaho Falls, ID. The potato industry in Idaho created a large, local Mexican population and they opened several really good restaurants. I think they have figured out that many of us gringos are addicted to chips and salsa.

I'll have to try that place next time I'm up there. I was born in Neenah and have lots of family in that area

Pretty cool! Seems like a nice town. The locals were very friendly to a foreigner like myself :D . I really enjoyed the lakefront.
