What are your opinions on Academy Sports Yildiz over/under shotguns? I am currently looking to get one and the Sporter that they released recently looks nice. It is a lot more friendly to my budget than some of the other big names in the over/under category.

They are good looking guns, but that is all I know about them.

I had one and it wasn't to bad. I bought one to see how I liked an over under and decided I like a pump or semi better. But overall they were nice guns. Get a recoil pad if you get one, they kick harder than Aunt Bessie old mule.

I've got 3 of em. A 20, 28, and a 410.
My only complaint is the wood finish or actually lack of. If you get one just figure on refinishing the wood even if it's brand spankin new. Tru oil works great but I did my 28 with linseed oil

Uncle Jessee has a good recommendation. What are the reviews on the website? Search will reveal other reviews. Linspeed is a great finish. Have used it on two shotguns. Just follow directions.

I've got a 20 gauge and have killed piles of critters with it. Uncle Jesse is right about the finish. I usually wipe mine down each spring and fall with a beeswax/oil furniture preserver my wife has laying around. Other than that, the only thing I've done is drill a hole in the stock and add a sling. Having a sling has been great and I probably wouldn't have done that with a more expensive gun.

I like slings too but not going to put one on the 28

I'll add this, I got the 20 as a dedicated Turkey gun and got the youth model so I could add a Limbsaver pad. Was tough to find one to fit but it makes it just right for me. The 410 was slightly longer than the youth 20 but adding a Limbsaver to it worked great too

The 28 is a full length stock and an odd fit for me. With the factory pad, the comb is too high for me but when I added a Limbsaver the LOP seemed a mile long but got me lower on the comb. My wife will be shooting the 28 so I couldn't leave the Limbsaver on it. Neither one of us shoot it very well

Heard a lot of good stuff about them. I wanted one but couldn't find one at academy when I was looking. I ended up going with an ATI 20 ga and haven't looked back for turkey hunting. It's light and will stomp you with 3" tss loads 😂. Can't go wrong with either of the Turkish guns!
