Looks like I'm still not going to pull off the compound this year with the eye issue as much as I want too.

So a serious xbow?
For me Ten Point or Excalibur?

Forget any others

And the simple "you can change your own string" really does matter on the Excalibur
I know of Ten Points 10 yrs old with same string

So serious Excalibur hunters?
Which one, and where can I shoot one?

What about that I'm reading 150 gran broadheads?

Ten points are high dollar xbows, but, I would go with Excalibur if I had to get a new one, broadheads shouldn't be heavier than 100gr, I shoot 85gr just fine.
 
When I got my Tenpoint I was having trouble getting my briasheads to shoot, I called Tenpoint.. Guy told me heavier broadheads are the life of your crossbow... So, at the advice of a member here I switched to bolts that had a heavier front of center, gold top lazer 2s, and 125gr heads.. Problem solved... If you wanna save some coin go with wicked ridge by Tenpoint.. The Raider CLS is one heck of a xbow and can be bought on eBay around $600... I did shoot Excalibur when I was looking but they are very loud, however none are quiet.
 
I bought my dad an Excalibur Exomax about 6 or so years ago. It shoots very accurate out to 50 yards. The only thing is it is real loud. But it is so fast I dont think it matters. The only thing about Excalibur is they are so wide. If I was going to buy one I would go with the reverse limb crossbows because they are alot narrower cocked and uncocked. Never shot one but I heard they are quiet. I know a crossbow hunter that started with a Excalibur then went to a parker, but know shoots a mission. He says the mission is superior all the way around compared to the others.
 
The Excilabur I'm looking at is about the same money as the Tenpoint I'm looking at.

Excalibur data does say shoot 150 grain head

And I do hear and read the Ex is noisy
 
If you have a mathews dealer close by check out the mission line of crossbows. They're the best crossbows on the market IMHO small, fast, quiet, and an awesome trigger.

The new Excalibur xbow are much much thinner and lighter. They are awesome. Excalibur recommends shooting at least 150 grain head. I shoot the slick trick and they are great.
 
Take a look at the Excalibur Micro 335. They are compact light and shoot lights out at 50 yards. I love mine. I looked at Tenpoint, mission, Parker, Wicked Ridge and Excalibur and the Micro was by far my favorite of the ones I held and shot.
 
I'm sure both are great xbows. I was looking at both plus others this year and decided on the Excalibur Micro and I love it! I've read that they are a little louder than the compound xbows but the deer I shot Wednesday never heard it until the bolt had already passed through it and that was at 35 yards. I love the fact that they have a lifetime warranty and very few moving parts which mean less to break. Less string to stretch and to get out of timing. You can change the string yourself, you can remove the string during off season to relieve all stress on the limbs. The micro is very compact but still a hard shooter. I like the short 10" power stroke and the short bolts. One thing I love is that after a hunt you can decock the Excalibur very easily without having to fire it like the compound xbows.
