A buddy and I plan on trying to draw a Wyoming general mule deer tag this year. Looking at region B. If anyone has any experience in this area either mule deer hunting or pronghorn hunting and has seen mule deer any help would be appreciated. If you aren't going this year but plan on next I can give you a scouting report on how it goes. Any and all information would be appreciated. I am willing to trade information on a few public land hunting spots in Missouri if anyone wants to head up there turkey hunting. Feel free to PM me if you don't want the Information public.

Other than encouraging you to go for it....I don't have any recent information.....but years ago I hunted mule deer outside of Aladdin which I believe is in unit A.... actually one year we hunted mule deer and another year we focused on whitetail....both trips we saw tons of deer...both trips were great hunts....then a few years later we hunted further south outside of Newcastle for antelope....again, great hunt....if you can get opening week on antelope do it....after they have been hunted for a week or two it can become more challenging....we hunted a week for antelope and could tell a difference between day-1 and day-6.....also need to mention that all the above hunts were on private ground....beutiful country.....I wouldn't hesitate to hunt in either of these areas again....great experience.....good luck!

Hunted east of Wright Wyoming in 2010, deer and antelope tags for the area then required no points. Pretty well all applications got tags.
Hunted a 50,000+ acre ranch and paid trespass fee to the owner on myself. He would not take money for my daughter, she was 14 at the time. He gave some tips on where he thought big deer should be but said it would be a tough year.
Some great hunting, although deer where we were was poor with warmer than normal temps.

Last year 353 people applied for the 347 tags in the regular random draw for 1st choice, odds of getting a tag are good but not a solid 100% if last year is any indication. Assuming they do not change the tag numbers that's still 98% odds.
Looks like you could apply in special for 2nd choice, draw the tag and still gain a point if your looking at that option.
Area 10 with B is not part of the general tag, so keep that in mind. The website shows some walk in land that might be worth considering. I've hunted antelope in that area but didn't see any deer in the sage, deer on public seemed close the the wooded hills (at least for public land).
If I were to plan a region B tag I would study the WY game and fish website. Find the units that have the most suitable habitat for deer, look at harvest rates then study access to the public land. Arriving a day or two before it opened would allow you to mark off pre determined spots and get a feel for the camping rigs/potential pressure.
I would also shoot for opener. Yes, temps could be warm (or blizzard) hunter pressure will be greatest and mule deer that time of year are hard to find. But, you'll also get first dibs. Season might open on a Thursday so pressure might be a little low for the first couple days, then fall off drastically on Mon/Tues.
I suspect local hunter pressure will be greatest around Casper/Gillette but don't let that deter you, everyone thinks that way.
The walk in areas can be a little gem. People are lazy and want to hunt and glass from the road. If you can find a walk in area or even a state/BLM or forest spot that requires a long walk in before sunrise you could be into something.
Also, public land cover adjoining a private food source (irrigation land) could be a gem too. Of course, the harder it is to get too the better the hunting will be.
With Onx and other technologies thinking outside the box is not as effective as it once was. However, people are creatures of habit.
Your biggest hurdle might be figuring out which roads are open and closed.

I checked my the Antelope unit map vs the deer unit map, I spent some time in deer units 7/8. You'll see a lot of antelope hunters and I think the seasons over lap so it's going to be hard to judge deer hunter pressure. I didn't see really any deer (some doe/fawn group's) and we had a good snow, which made roads a impassable mess in some spots, and deer should have been visible. This was in the sage Country.
Newcastle will have a good selection of needed supplies and gas too. A random dinner that served hot coffee and edible food.

Am sure you have ONX maps on your phone/PC but one thing to remember is, make sure you have your areas downloaded to your device.
