Where did you get your info? The DOW booklet says June 30, and my results are not posted(after the close of business on June 23).

It was not posted when I went to bed after midnight,but was on there overnight. I now have a point, unsuccessful! Oh well, if I can"t find something else, landowner tag, etc. I just paid for our annual cruise! lol

I drew unit 34 for deer and unit 73 for antelope !!

What area did you put in for? There are some leftovers you can get for some areas, if you just wanna hunt.

68, special draw, the $500 and someodd license. Last year, even in the special draw with no points, the NR success was only 57% without points. And I'll probably still hunt. I know some of the east units have leftover tags, and for $286 also. lol
The problem is the further east you go, the less public land there is(and in many, the less antelope). My 68 deal was a huge,great private ranch, but such is life. lol

I have two or three years ago. What would you like to know? Lots of "walk in" land, which is what attracted me(and maybe you) and easy enough tag to draw, but candidly a lot of it has sparse antelope populations. If you are planning on staying in a motel in Lusk, I'd get right on finding a place. We stayed in Farmington, which is about a 45 minute drive to the south of any of the walk in areas. If I were hunting there again, I believe that I would stay in Douglas, maybe 50 miles to the West, but with all sorts of good motels, Holiday Inn Express, etc. fast food restaurants etc. I called a list of ranchers furnished by the Douglas chamber of commerce, and called a rancher whose name was furnished me by the game warden. He let me hunt without charge, but that was about what it was worth, very, very few antelope. I hunt in Colorado also, and I was not particularly pleased with unit 11. You can probably kill an antelope, if you hunt hard(and long). I didn't, mainly because I lost my enthusiasm with the deal. Not trying to discourage you, but just telling it like it was for me. Incidentally, we saw some monster mulie bucks in that unit. And we saw some antelope also, most of which were where we did not have permission to hunt. Maybe you do(have permission) on one of those places. Good Luck.

Tickweed, got to thinking that if you don't have a place yet to hunt in 11 and are relying on the walk-in areas, I'd contact the Douglas chamber of commerce and ask them to send me a list of ranchers who allow hunting. And I wouldn't bat an eye about paying a trespass fee to hunt, if I could get the right place. I found that there were very few animals on the walk-in areas, and the warden came close to telling me that, even though its hard for him to say anything about a state sponsored program. He did tell me that the further north you get in the unit, the higher the population of animals, and we found that to be the case with just road sightings.

If I'm not mistaken, Huntin Fool listed 68 this year as one of thier top choices... in other words, expect it to take 3 or 4 points to draw from here on out :(

The reason we put in for 11 was four friends hunted public land last season, and killed four bucks the first morning. They saw lots of goats. We have talked to several ranchers a month or so ago, plus the warden, but that doesent mean anything. Still will be a fun trip.

First of all(I thought about this tonight in the car), the town we stayed in was Torrington, not Farmington(too many farmingtons in my brain). And, your field reports are much more recent(and positive) than mine, which was in 2008. I'm sure you will have a ball, and knowing specifically where the herds were last year, should give you a leg up on a successful trip.
