I had a thought. The thermal imaging thread made the wheels start turning. Could someone use the hand held thermal cameras like you get at Fastenal, Grainger or any other supply house. (Milwaukee makes one) to help aid in blood trailing? You know how sometimes the trail just disappears and then you find one tiny speck. Just a thought

I would guess that would only work if you were to track immediately on fresh blood. In cold weather the blood drops would lose heat pretty quick. Lights that enhance color would be more reliable. A good tracking dog even better.

duckriver,

Droplets of blood would drop in temperature to match the surrounding atmosphere in a matter of minutes.

If they ever develop thermal imaging to the degree or price point that a hunter sitting in a deer stand could detect animals 50 to 100 yards away, that would change everything for a deer hunter. I believe there are deer often within our sight that get missed by us on stand. Just think about this one aspect; calling to a deer you know is there but you can't see.

I agree. From surfing this sight while on the stand.

Best I can recall, there is one. Trouble is, it doesn't work very well best I remember. Can't remember who was selling it or what it cost.
