Would earn a buck ever come to TN ?

With all the talk of lowering buck limits one has to wonder if the idea of only issuing buck tags after killing a doe would ever happen here? or happen in certain areas i guess would be a better way of phrasing it? I don't like the idea of it at all because many times my first deer of the season has been a buck and a pretty good one one season. But i know some states do it.

I don't see that happening. I might could see it as an option if the buck limit stayed at 3 and there weren't enough does being removed so you had to earn that 3rd buck tag.

Rules aren't designed to prevent cheating. There has been EAB in my home county in VA for a number of years now. The statistics don't reflect a significant about of cheating anyway....with telecheck. I think most who are apt to cheat don't bother to check their bucks, rather than checking imaginary does.

The LEO that I have heard from say that its virtually impossible to enforce. If you have a buck skull with no tag its easy for the LEO to prove their case, if you a doe tag but no doe nothing can be done to say you didnt kill a doe.

If Im mistaken a earn a buck is to vigorously control a deer population, any false reporting of doe kills would greatly hurt the management plan I would think.

Your right about cheaters though, they will skirt the law no matter what but why make it easier on them and virtually impossible to prove them guilty?

Do ya'll even have deer out there? Maybe you could tag a cow elk and that would earn you a lot of bucks, or cost you a lot of bucks.

the county i hunt in VA had it for several years.

you can kill a buck first, before you can kill a second buck, have to kill a doe. then another doe before the third buck.
You could also kill 2 does first and then you could kill 3 bucks in a row.
get the does during archery and the no worries

What about the hunters who don't archery hunt?

i used the archery part as an example. if you do not archery hunt then i guess you have to kill your does during muzzleloader or rifle seasons. The county i hunted had EAB for about 5 years. It has since been removed from the EAB program.
Never had an issue because the lease i am on is in the DMAP program. We kill as many does as we can.
