Worth Reading

Henry Winkler's, "Never Met An Idiot On The River." He is strictly a fly guy, strictly trout and mostly in MT but the book is well worth reading.

To my surprise, I gave it four stars out of five. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

I bet it is a good read. But I don't get fishing exclusively for trout, with a fly rod. Why do that when there are so many other fish worth fishing for? I try to catch whatever is around and always have fun with it.

Well thats they beauty of fishing... You dont have to understand anything about the why's of others. I would loose my mind if all I fished for was trout but I have adopted the "whatever floats your boat" attitude. I seldom use anything but a fly rod myself but then again I have spent days in pursuit of Gar and Carp!

Oh yeah I am with you on that. I'm not against people exclusively trout fly fishing, I just don't get it myself. But whatever floats your boat.... And I have a spot that I fish for gar and carp... caught my biggest gar there one day, and a few days later caught some carp including my biggest carp too. Lots of fun hooking a good carp over 10 pounds. The first one was 11 pounds on 8lb line. I bet they would be fun on a fly rod, if I ever got one and started fly fishing.

Everyone has their own ways,I mostly fish for smallmouth,never would spend any time fishing for carp,gar and the stuff you seem to like,has zero appeal to me.

For a couple decades, I fished for nothing but smallmouth. Now, however, I don't mind a few other species. But not carp and gar and stuff like that right there.

It is about time for me to start messing with them ole trouts. I don't eat them but using micro-lite tackle, they are fun to catch and the scenery is worth it.

I bet Ive caught nearly every fresh water fish at one time or another,just dont care much for those types,but have fun with it if you like it.
