Sat in my stand from noon till dark 4 rain storms wind blowing like crazy wet and cold saw 0 deer. Everything felt rite as far as stand placement and wind direction but nothing. I hate not seeing a single deer.

I sat thru the rain, rode my tree in the wind and ended up hitting one high in the shoulder that I couldn't find! Hopefully in the morning we'll recover him. But over all I'd rather been wet and tired and deer less! I hate wounding an animal!

I know what you mean about riding the tree. Sorry to hear about your deer. Good luck

I have seen 5 total on the season. 2 from the stand. it has been a bit odd but beats sitting at work.

Sounds like a good day to me! You have legs to walk, arms to carry a bow and vacation time to take off in the week ;)

Mike you'll learn to pick your days being self employeed
Too many wear themselves and there spot out
before it gets good

I have to work when the weather is good self employed or not lol. I hunt when the weather is bad. My son is at his grandparents this week so didn't have to pick him up from daycare. Had some free time that doesn't come to often.

Bowhunting or not, mid-October, in that kind of weather I think someone might have just as much luck still hunting than blowing around in a tree in the middle of the afternoon. Even if you don't get to draw on a deer, at least you might come across some good sign.

A title like this should be saved for car wrecks, a bad doctors visit and things that really matter!
This is the serious deer hunting section. If posted in the general forum it would agree
