I still haven't seen or heard a jake yet this year. I have lost a few of my good places to hunt but still on the few farms I do still hunt I haven't seen any. I have talked to a few guys that have seen some but I would have thought I would have seen a few this season

Last year I didn't hardly see any jakes, but someone else saw 11 one morning in the same area I hunted. I've seen a few this year. Just cause you don't see or hear em doesn't mean they aren't there. They like to hide from the gobblers I'm guessing

Good number of jakes in my area but one thing to consider is "the nature of jakes" that may be a reason you aren't seeing them (but also may not mean you're jakeless). They often run in packs; I saw 2 different groups of 9 and 14 and if not for those sightings saw very few singles. As well, they often don't gobble much if any so other than coarse gobbler yelps/clucks you might not hear them either.

I'm not far from you and have seen numerous jakes In several areas. They're around, maybe hiding or simply not in the areas you're hunting.

I've seen more jakes this year than in the past 3-4 years combined. If my area has another good hatch this year the next 3-4 years should be dynamite.

I've seen em in areas I hunt. They are there, even saw one braving it out by himself one evening.
