We had our 1st work tx of the year today. There was only 5 boats that fished today. We blasted off at 7:30 this morning & it was 25 degrees . We got to a deep channel just out of the main channel with flats on each side of the smaller channel. I caught a 17.5 inch largemouth on my 5th cast. Game on! Cast again & hang into a good fish & then he comes unbuttoned. Then the next 6,473 casts NOTHING!!!! A long cold day on the Chick. Threadfin shad were floating everywhere. It is a smorgasbord for the fish & the birds right now. Got back to the ramp & there were only 2 trucks in the parking lot, so I knew we at least would get 2nd & we did. 1st place had 3 fish around 8 lbs total. We had 1 fish about 2.5 lb. My partner caught 1 that was 14.75 inch, too short. Water temps were 36 when we first started & 40 when we finished. Good Luck & God Bless!
