Do you have to have the permit to scout the land? And also i wouldn't be carrying any type of weapon. I posted this on the TWRA forum and really didnt get a straight forward answer and i cannot find a direct answer on TWRA's website. I am going to get the permit, but i'm going straight from work work this afternoon and didnt wanna have to stop to get it before i went.

I would bet you are OK without it as long as you are not hunting, but you should call the area manager to confirm.
