Back years ago, before I ever even had been duck hunting I wanted to kill a hooded meganser drake.
I just think they are cool.
I also wanted to kill a drake wood duck.

I killed a hen meganser last year but still no drake.
I killed a drake woodie my first season and he had perfect colors and everything but I didn't get it mounted.
Haven't killed a pretty one since. :bash:

I guess next on my list is a pintail drake.
Man has killed 2 of them and I have killed one hen.

A few of my favorites that I have killed are a green wing teal (just an absolute beautiful bird)
Redhead, very cool as well.
Canvasback, bigger than I realized.

Man has killed just about everything you can imagine except for the canvasback and redhead. I like to rub that in, ignoring or course, the fact that he has killed 10X the different species I have. :rotf:
I think my favorite of his was the storm widgeon.

So what's on your wishlist, or your favorite that you have killed?

I love pintails and widgeons. Always get excited when I hear some coming over whistling. We used to kill mergansers all the time. Things smell like raw fish.

Bull Cans Stay on the top of my list (beautiful birds known as the KING OF THE DUCKS) and I usually get a crack at them a few times a year, The most elusive duck I believe around these parts is the Black Duck. I hunt from Ky lake to SEMO and I've only Killed 3. Shot two on ky lake about 8 years ago and shot one last year in SEMO which I was smart enough to hang on the wall. A buddy killed a blonde mallard several years ago, now that would be awesome too

I am a puddle duck guy myself, so any diver is good to me.

Canvasback, pintail, and black mallard is going on the wall.

Have duck hunted 20+ years...killing a banded duck of any kind is what I want.

Black duck is my wishlist bird. Favorite is a drake gadwall. Lots of subtle beauty in all those gray feathers.

I'd like a mounter pintail too. The only one I've killed was slap full of pin feathers in January.

I've hunted a lot and taking them all. I'm kind of partial to specks. To be honest it's hard to beat Green heads

The 1st year I started duck hunting, I was fortunate enough to kill a pintail drake, but I didn't know what I had in my hands after retrieving it. I rang it's neck and destroyed the possibility of mounting it. I have yet to kill another and that's been 17 years now...
I killed my 1st redhead and canvasback 2 years ago and I didn't make the same mistake as I did with the pintail.

Pintail is top of my list, followed by of course black duck or widgeon.

I really don't have a wishlist, maybe a big goldeneye. I've been in on killing about everything, I killed a brewers duck a few years ago. Very cool bird. Was on the blind when my big cousin killed a mandarin duck all killed in west Tennessee.

Drake woodie and canvasback are on my wish list. Wish I had mounted that black duck I killed a couple years ago. Would have if I had realized how scarce they are around here.

I am "friends" with a taxidermist from down around Convington I believe, that mounted one last year.
That is an amazing bird and I would venture to guess very rare to kill around here.

Killed about every diver other than canvasback, common merganser and goldeneye. Missing black duck, pintail, wigeon on the puddle duck side. Excluding extremely rare ducks that are not supposed to be in our area.

They are Native only to China and East Asia, I think the only way they are killed in the US is if it escapes from someones pen. They are common duck for people to have as pets or people raise them to sell to Taxidermist.

The mandarin duck was killed back in 09 close to New Johnsonville, it came flying in with a group of wood ducks. It had a red band on its leg, someone told us it was a "spotter band" that mean people can see it looking at the duck with binos. We don't care if it was a pet or not it comes in like a duck gonna get shot like a duck... and he did get it mounted don't know who he had do it.

My wish list used to consist of a Black Duck, Pintail, and Wigeon. Once I killed those 3 it became less about the species and more about the hunt. Now I want to shoot divers in the Florida Gulf Coast, geese on the Platte River, Puddlers on the Snake river, brants on Long Island, and a lesser Canada hunt.

Killed the wigeon and pintail on the same day.
Black duck was a few years back. All on public land!

I've killed all the ducks that are common in TN, but I would love to kill a storm widgeon, eurasion widgeon, cinnamon teal, teal band of any kind. I would also love to get a good group of canadas in. I hunt mainly in the bottoms and was born 10 years too late for regular canada goose kills.

I've got a pintail, mallard, widgeon, wood duck, and teal on the wall. I've killed 2 cans and one black duck back when I was a kid and didn't mount them because I didn't know how rare they were lol

Pintail is high on my list for puddlers, they are very rare in my part of Virginia but did manage to kill one last January. I've yet to kill a widgeon but will go on the wall when I️ do. I️ think that a mature drake gadwall is a beautiful bird that doesn't get a whole lot of respect. My taxidermist just finished up a pintail and black duck dead mount for me the other week, along with a drake gaddie. Thought they turned out pretty well.
