Winterizing my Inboard?

I have winterized my boat the past two years, however last year I had a lot of problems once the spring rolled around. Not sure if it was due to me winterizing it, but I want to ask to be sure.

I have a 4.3 mercruiser....what steps should I take?

When I had mine. Lower gear lube change, antifreeze, fog carb, stabalize fuel, and oil change if you prefer

i have a 5.7 mercruiser inboard and all i do is remove all the petcock drain plugs. ther are 4 on mine, two on exhaust manifolds and two on the block.you will see a bunch of water coming out the block... and its winterized. the fuel i usually siphon out to use on the smaller boat through out the fall till empty.

My inboard has a chevy 350 with fresh water cooling and here is all I do to winterize my boat and it hasnt failed me for many years.

1.Fill up the gas tank (if you do this there really isnt a need for fuel stabilizer)

2.Hook up a cut off hose to the fresh water cooling system and flush RV antifreeze through the system (takes about 6 gallons to flush it good.) When I see solid pink coming out the exhaust it's done.

That's it.

Optional: Change oil or wait til spring (I normally change the oil in the spring)
